22 Aug Your Most Important Relationship: A Few Thoughts From Our President, Jeff Russell
I recently picked up The Four Agreements again. As I always do with books I have already read, I skimmed through the pages to see what I had highlighted during past readings. Within this book, I can tell you, there are a lot of highlighted sections!
Within the first agreement, Don Miguel Ruiz talks about being impeccable with your word, including manifesting what you want in your life with words.
Words are important.
So then, why aren’t we more careful with the words we use towards ourselves?
“You’re so dumb.”
“That was so stupid.”
“Well, you screwed that up again.”
“Get over it.”
These are just a few things we might say to ourselves. But, would we say those same things to our mom, child, best friend or neighbor? Probably not. Yet, we have no problem saying them to ourselves with ease.
Our minds are like a garden: feed them with good words and they grow good stuff. Feed them with bad words, and well…they don’t.
The most important relationship you’ll ever have in your life is with yourself. No matter what relationships come and go, you always have you.
So this week, take some time to think about how you can start treating yourself more like the person you love the most in this world. Hint: this starts with the words you use towards yourself.
Life is good. – Jeff
